Parking

There's a wide lay by on the inside corner of Toat Lane opposite the start of the walk with space for several cars. Is very boggy in wet seasons.

Terrain

Muddy paths for much of the way, and mix of country roads and woodland paths. Few hilly bits but nothing too steep.

Water

Not far along the first stretch of pathway there's a section of the old canal which when low can be good for a quick splash. In the woodlands there are a few stretches of shallow streams.

Poo Bins

No bins here.

Another I'm afraid where I'm adding the walk as a feature as it's a lovely place and well worth exploring, but not recommending you follow my route as did get a bit lost!

From the lay by-follow the public footpath sign on the opposite side in the road, this leads you through some woodlands and go straight over the first cross-roads in the path and you'll cross the bridge for the old section of the canal. Over the bridge the path leads you to a long fenced path between two fields with lovely view of the hills and houses in the distance.

At the end of the path on the country road by the farm houses, you can go straight over or right. Here is where I went wrong! From looking at the maps I planned to go right, making a loop turning left and eventually come back to the straight over option. I'm sure you can do this, but I couldn't find my way there today. I went right and followed the road until a footpath just before some stables and equestrian fields led off to the left - all going to plan. From here though I found the signposting non-existent, and ended up waking round a very pretty and open woodland, but with a huge network of pathways often with dead ends, and instead of creating the loop I was hoping for I ended up pretty much walking parallel to the road I came in on, which I eventually re-joined and came back the way I came.

IT's worth a visit though but one for your GPS app definitely, it's a lovely scenic rural walk through field passes and country roads, and sections of open woodland too. There were a fair few other walkers around, and we did also cross paths with a few horses so for today Hank was on his lead the whole way.

*One other note - this is the second time I've tried this walk, the first time failed as the pathways were completely impassable due to flooding so avoid in wet seasons.
