Parking

Large National Trust car park. Parking is free to all visitors, although access to the gardens is chargeable to non National Trust members - see About My walk section

Terrain

Nice easy walk on mainly gravel paths but are a few woodland and grass areas but all were fine when we went even in the rain. Mainly very flat.

Water

Some beautiful lakes here, but no access for dogs as is a lead-on location only.

Poo Bins

Several bins throughout - some by the road by the car park, one just through the main entrance and a couple more dotted around that we saw.

Local Info

The gardens itself is a National Trust location which is chargeable if you're not a member, but there is a parkland too that is public access so you can walk there for free. This walk however focusses on the gardens side of things.

Author Review

The lakes form the focal point of this location and you can walk all around them, with a few other routes heading away through the woodlands too. We didn't really choose a route and just wandered so did come back on ourselves a few times, but it's a lovely area with expertly maintained gardens and very easy to walk around.

It is a lead-on location and can be busy with families, walkers and other dogs. Lots of geese and ducks, so as we did really today it's a good socialising spot for dogs.

Until recently dogs were only allowed here after 1pm, but I think they're trialling allowing them all the time right now - check the national Trust website before you go though as I don't know if this is an indefinite trial and you don't want a wasted trip. There's also a handy map, which does detail one area where you are allowed off the lead although we didn't explore that today
