Lots of free parking at the Whiteman's Green recreation centre car park.
Fairly hilly, paths are typical woodland paths so muddy and uneven. Several kissing gates and stiles, Hank just about made it under all of them without needing lifting but bigger dogs won't.
A stream runs through the woods and you cross it at several points. Was dry for most of it when I went but still some good areas of water for Hank to splash around in.
Several poo bins at the car park, and one on the far left of the playing fields too.
Playing fields and skate park right at the start of the walk. There used to be a fish and chip van stopping here too, but can't find any info on what dates they go but worth a search if you want to combine a walk with a takeaway.
It's very easy to get to here with lots of parking, and whilst the woods are quiet if you want a bit of social time then there's often other walkers and dogs at the playing fields so a good mix of both.
From the car park I crossed the playing fields to the far right hand corner, there's a small private road here where you go left past the houses, and shortly after the path is signposted through a hedge on your left and across a couple of fields. The entrance to the woodland is then signed and through the kissing gates. From here I created a loop through the woods eventually coming out on the opposite side of the playing fields and back to the car. I won't try and direct you though as once in the woods there's lots of small paths and junctions so take your GPS app, it's not huge but easy to get disoriented through the windy paths but a nice woodland to explore and find your own way.
