Parking

If you take the Cheesmer Way turning off the A264, then head right along Churchill Way the entrance to the walk is approximately 100 yards away on the left. No car park but road parking in residential areas.

Terrain

Very flat walk and not hilly at all. Downs link is paved walkway, before that it's a mix of field and mud paths - some narrow and uneven sections. Several narrow footbridges with steps up and are few steps up to the downs link section too.

Water

The first half of the walk is alongside part of the River Arun. Mostly it has high overgrown brush so not accessible, but are a couple of clearings where you can get down to the water. They're not impossible to get down, but are still pretty steep and in wet weather will be very slippery! Further along through the woodlands just before you join the Downs Link there is also a smaller stream section.

Poo Bins

No bins here

Author Review

There's been an awful lot of development around this area in recent years, so it's nice to know there's still some countryside walks around close by - I've lived not far from here for a while and only just discovered it now!

If you follow the path from Churchill Way it leads you out of the housing estate. Not long after you'll come to a pretty stone bridge and if you go over this and left you'll walk through the fields alongside the river. The walk is two parts really, the first part though the fields, leading on to a small woodland area. Then as you come out of the woodlands and up the steps into the newly renovated stretch of the Downs Link by Christ's Hospital station, take a right along the old platform and the downs link path leads you back to the start creating a loop.

Mix of off lead/lead time here - generally it's quite open and safely away from roads, but whilst not busy by any means there were several cyclists and other wakers around as well, and the downs link path is used by horses as well.
