Free car park, space for 10-12 cars maybe. Just past the Old Railway pub by the side of the road.
Mostly a very flat walk. The downs link section at the start is gravel paths, then some grassy trails by the river before private road sections to end. Nothing muddy at all when we went but river section can get flooded so will be boggy areas in wetter seasons. Are a couple of stiles - no doggy doors, but some worn paths under barb wire and gates so not ideal, but we got through without too much issue.
Quite a strong current so whether or not you allow your dog in will depend on them. There are some lower access areas, but will alwasys vary depending on height of the water.
One in the car park, and also bins in the residential area that you cross through.
This was our third time trying this walk - the 1st time was in very rainy season and the plains to get to the river were cokpletely flooded and not passable. The second time we had to go back because Hank was scared of nearby shotgun sounds, so may have to pick the right time to visit!
The first third of this walk is on the Down's Link old railway which is always popular as it's a nice flat, straight gravel path but just beaware that there will be other walkers, and probably cyclists too. This is the busiest part of this walk though and even so when we went there were only a few other people around who were all very friendly.
Keep going, and just before you get to the bridge over the river there's a kissing gate on your left so head down there and follow the river round. We loved this bit, the scenery is lovely with the river and views to the Down's, and the wild marshlands too.
We avoided the first couple of footpath signs to get away from the river (although both would take you back without too much variation of route), but when we did the path led between some willow trees, between some properties and then the private roads take you back, with a short section near the end through the residential green/childrens play area.
Other than the very start we barely saw a soul and a really lovely walk, hope to head back when the sun is shining!
