Parking

Two car parks along the same stretch of road, free for National Trust Members or £4 for the day if not. My route starts from the smaller Brimmer Car Park. PayByPhone app, main car park code 803452 , Brimmer code 803453

Terrain

Sandy chalky grass paths for most of it, with some muddy sections particularly just out of the car park. Quite hilly, gets more so the further you go. Some cattle gates but no stiles.

Water

There are several small ponds dotted around. When we visited they were iced over, and couldn't see any signs or on their website saying no dogs but area is a SSSI and from experience they don't like dogs in the water so just be cautious!

Poo Bins

Yes, in both car parks

Author Review

On a frosty January morning the picturesque views here and open plains with heathland shrubbery were just stunning. Whilst there were other people around it wasn't busy, and it was perfect for us on-lead as so many routes - if you see someone coming you can see them from a way off so just try another way and plenty of space to be had and other areas to explore.

The signs in the car park are informative and detail set routes which are posted throughout, but we just ambled aimlessly through the woods, over the heathland until we came to the valleys where you get the amazing views, and then just wandered our way back. Plenty of scope for longer walks here too.

The area is used for cattle grazing so keep an eye out for the cows.
