Pebble beach and sandy plains
Check tide times as is so much better at low tide! The plains go out for miles, so do keep an eye on the tide if you plan on venturing out there!
Lots on car parks, and couple on top path too on the grassy dune bit
Seaside resort so Inn on the beach pub, ice cream, toilets, and funfair! Please note between 1st May and 30th September all dogs must be on leads on the beach. Also during this time the main pedestrian areas are off limits to dogs. Most of the areas I went to on this walk are fine once past the pub area. Check https://hayling.co.uk/life/dog-walking-hayling-island/ for further details and a map of restricted areas.
Plenty of beach in Hayling Island but this is my first venture, and from the car park we headed west along the sand and around the corner up to the ferry port.
It is essentially a pebble beach, but when the tide is out, it creates vast sandy shallows which are great for dogs.
We went late winter/early spring and was quite busy but not too bad, but like most beaches I'm sure it would he pretty hectic on a sunny summers day!
Great views across to the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth on a clear day.
Even with lots of other walkers, kite surfers, and pony trekkers we found plenty of space, and even though Hank needs to be on lead in busy places he had a great time running as fast as I can keep up, and playing in the pools!
