Author Review

*** (see below)I'm going to try and explain the route here, but please don't hold me to it - there are lots of paths very difficult to tell apart so official advice as always take a GPS!

Ok, so from the front of the lay by we took the path right into the woods. Soon you come to a crossroads which if you head left you go down the hill until you come to the first bridge/stream crossing. Head up the hill to the right, and at the very top of the hill there's a narrow path on your right which goes into an open green field. The path goes straight across the field, before going back into the woods and another little stream crossing.

Go over the stream and up the little hill, then turn left. After a little while there's a sharp right turn, take that and then left a very short while later.

This them takes you through a more open area where they've been clearing the forest, and follow the tracks straight past this (you may see the road through the trees ahead of you in the distance). The path then goes round to the right so the road is on your left and the stream is on your right. Keep on following this trail until there is another bridge crossing on your right - take this, and then soon there'll be a left turn which takes you back to the road where the car is! If you've followed that well done!!

It's a very pretty area and we didn't see a single other person so nice and quiet, Hank loved playing in the streams and mud!

*** Having read this page and seen how tricky I found the route I was contacted by a helpful lady from William Robinson Gravetye Charity that manages Gravetye Estate - she has kindly provided a better map and more details which if you scroll to the bottom of the photos you can see! 👍
