Small car park I imagine will be busy on a peak sunny day, we had no trouble though - mainly a hand full or walkers and the kite surfers. See pictures for current prices - MiPermit app or card.
We went bang on low tide, and whilst there was some flat sand to walk on it's not a huge expanse like some other local beaches, and on the way back was barely there. Is a slightly flatter sandier stretch above this so not harsh pebbles all the way, but ultimately is a pebble/shingle beach.
In the car park
WC's in car park, and is also a sauna right there too! Another walk I loved is Medmerry Nature reserve which ends up basically at the same place at Medmerry Beach, so could easily combine the routes for a longer walk.
On a June Saturday no good for sun bathing we enjoyed lots of space here, it was a windy day and we were battered by the sea spray with a few batches of blue sky too but just a handful of other walkers, joggers and kite surfers around.
We headed East from the car park up to the Periwinkle sculpture which you'll see as you near it just inland after around 2.5km. It's not a pristine sand beach but that's fine, the further you get from the car park the less people there are around and old worn out groynes make for some dramatic scenery.
From the council's website at time of reviewing 'Well behaved dogs are allowed everywhere on the beach at Bracklesham and East Wittering.' So that's good. If you plan a longer walk though in either direction beware that both West Wittering, and Selsey do have seasonally restricted areas for dogs.
The Periwinkle structure itself is a fun little landmark - have a google if you want to find out more and obviously see the comments you'd expect to see about it! 😊
