Paid parking in Mill Road Car park - see photos for current rates. Sippi app(?) if you want to pay online, another new one on me but just paid by card anyway!
Nice flat walk. No stiles. some sections of path are quite narrow and uneven, and the last bit beforee the road quite overgrown and looks like will be muddy in wetter weather.
The main of the walk is along the river, but it's a strong current and not really an easy place to acces anyway. Towards the end thgouh as you walk beside the wetlands there's a beautiful stream with crystal clear waters - there are a few places to access this although might be a bit steep and slippy in wet weather so watch out!
Lots of bins around the car park, and on the road section on the final leg.
Lots to see and do here, facilities and WC in car park too. Also you can link this route up with either Swanbourne Lake, and/or Arundel Arun Valley if you want to go for longer, both are lovely walks.
If you're not local to Arundel, then in my humble opinion there can't be any more picturesque towns in this area so along with the fantastic walks available it's well worth a visit. Especially on a sunny day it's a bustling old town with cafes and bars, craft shops and things to do for a great family day out, and of course the breathtaking castle and cathedral standing high looking over the town.
This route starts in the main car park for the town, and if you want to take in more iof the local sights you're starting / finishing in the best spot with great access to the town, castle, Swanbourne Lake, and the wetlands nature reserve too.
Our route started by walking through to the back of the car park past the Waterside cafe, and you'll see the path up to the right and from here it couldn't be more simple. You just simply follow the river in a big loop, until you eventually come back to the road and you can go straight back to the car park.
A lot of my walks are escapes from the crowds but don't expect that here. It is a busy place and there's no avoiding other people and walkers especially on the road / pavement section back to the car park but as long as you're prepared for that if it could be an issue then it's a beautiful place and a lovely day out.
