We parked in Maugersbury Road Road Car Park in the town of Stow on the Wold. Pay by phone App.
Hilly Countryside route. The pathways are well signposted with gates and a few stiles, but all well maintained.
We found a gorgeous patch of stream near a bridge and Riley could have quite literally been in there all day, deep enough for him to swim in. There were also some wells/stone troughs on part of this walk he enjoyed jumping in and out of.
At various spots on this walk but mainly through the town and village.
There are plenty of pubs, cafes and shops etc in Stow On The Wold, its a very popular tourist destination of the Cotswolds, A couple of our favourites are The Porch House - which boasts to be the oldest Inn in the country and we can also give high praise to the roast dinner at The Bell, both places very dog friendly. There is also a lovely Dog shop called Dog from Just for Pets on the way to see the Magical Door of the Church which your dog simply wont be able to walk past. On route of this walk you go through the village of Broadwell and have the chance to stop off at the Fox Inn, gorgeous pub and lovely large beer garden.
This is a very popular tourist destination in the Cotswolds, if you visit the magical door on this route expect to wait for a photo opportunity, it's always busy. The walk was just over 10KM of rolling countryside and if you are marking off any miles of particular trails etc then this covers a section of the Monarchs Way.
The Monarch's Way is a 625-mile (1,006 km) long-distance footpath in England that approximates the escape route taken by King Charles II in 1651 after being defeated in the Battle of Worcester. It runs from Worcester via Bristol and Yeovil to Shoreham, West Sussex.
There are plenty of off lead opportunities and some great photo opportunites across the whole walk. if dogs need to be kept on lead due to livestock or nature preservation etc it is all well marked but these areas are few and far between. You would quite easily spend a whole day completing this walk and bimbling about Stow on The Wold, prepare to fall in love with the Cotswolds.
