Parking

This route starts from the National Trust car park at Longshaw, very easy to find but it's not the largest car park so if you are heading here during peak holiday times I strongly suggest you get there reasonably early. You can also explore this area by rail, the Hope Valley Line has a stop right on the route, all of the train route information can be found here; https://peakdistrictbytrain.org/railway-line-guides/hope-valley-line/ and the station you need is the Grindleford Station

Terrain

Trails winding through some of the most gorgeous scenic Woodlands the Peak District has to offer. There's well walked trails but plenty of scope to go off road and climb over boulders and paddle through valley streams.

Water

Woodland Valleys with pools and streams are dotted all the way along this woodland, it's a dogs paradise as none of them were very deep that we saw and Riley thought he had gone to spaniel heaven!

Poo Bins

Bins at the car park, and the train station.

Local Info

We were hoping to stop off at The Grouse Inn which is on this route, but unfortunately we picked the only day it was closed, so I strongly suggest if a pint stop is what you are after then check the opening times before you go. Looked like it had a nice beer garden etc .

Author Review

Padley Gorge is an area of woodland that you could quite literally explore a different way every time you go.

Even though we went in early may on a bank holiday we hardly saw another person. I can imagine it gets a little busier in the summer months but because of the sheer size of the woodland you could enjoy a full day in there without any problems at all, take a picnic and make the most of such a wonderful location.

Lots of off lead opportunites, lots of small, medium and larger trails marked out, but grab your boots and go exploring, it's absolutely stunning!

As you come out of Padley Gorge and get back towards Longshaw it does request dogs to be put on leads, which is a good idea because it's a little busier in that section with humans and cars, there is also a National Trust Coffee shop available on the Site.
