This walk obviously starts at a camp site so we left the van there. But they also have other parking at the adorable Puddleduck Cafe and Gallery that is on site.
The walks starts off directly from The camp site at Holt Farm and takes you along the canal. No stiles, and the pathways are well laid out. The tow path does get a little boggy in bad weather and there is a resident swan that likes to sit on the path and can be a bit aggressive so be careful with your dog off the lead until after you get past the pub and bridge, apparently it never goes past that point.
This walk has a long stretch of tow path and canal.
Bins are available along the tow path but not off the canal areas.
The Holt Farm campsite is a lovely site. There are two different sites here, one is a club site that is bookable via the camping and caravanning club, the other is a public one with a great toilet and shower block. If cafes are your thing Puddleduck Cafe and Gallery is based in Holt Farm, if you are more a pub goer The Folly at Napton is on this route, and a cidery is also in the village of Napton with award winning cider.
This was a great walk unfortunately I did this walk early in the morning before the pubs and cidery was open so no pictures inside those places but we will head back over there soon to get another route for the map and visit them. Obviously, Riley being a spaniel he is obsessed with water so I avoided letting him off by the canal otherwise he would just turn into an otter and we wouldn't get anywhere, but if you can trust your dog by the water there is plenty of off lead by the canal. There is also a chance to get a photo at 'dog lane' we feel this is a non negotiable task for the route.
