There is a car park at Crag y Nos Country Park, short stay (up to 2 hours) charged at £2.00 and long stay (over 2 hours) charged at £3.00.
There are a couple of small hills on this circular from the country park, and as you would expect on this kind of route a couple of stiles, but they make great posing stations! All of the footpath signs are very clearly laid out and easy to follow.
There is water by the car park at the beginning of this walk in the Country Park.
In the Country Park there are bins but nothing on the actual route.
There is an adorable cafe beside the car park at the Country Park, but no pubs etc on this route unfortunately.
An absolutely stunning walk and as you approach the wreckage there is a real feel for the history, with Canadian flags posted across the site. On November 20, 1944, the Royal Air Force Wellington Bomber MF509 (from the 22 Operational Training Unit in Wellesbourne) experienced engine trouble and crashed during a cross-country exercise. The aircraft flew into clouds where ice accumulated on the wings, forcing it down. Tragically, all six Canadian crew members aboard lost their lives. What remains on the site is still extensive as you can see from the photos. Across the moorland there are wild horses and livestock and obviously at certain times of the year there will be ground nesting birds to be aware of also. Also covers some of the Beacons Way and if your lucky you get to see some donkeys and Lamas or Alpacas (never know the difference between the two). At only 10km this walk although not as long as some of our others really was a beautiful walk and Riley loved it!
