Parking

It is possible to park in the disabled fishing bays during spawning season when people are not allowed to fish, otherwise there is plenty of parking at the golf club. The road to the golf club is gravel and a bumpy ride in the car.

Terrain

The walk is mostly flat and easy going, the footpath goes down a gravel road around the well kept golf course, there are a few small bridges and a couple handmade earthen steps. The sides of the cauliflower field can be somewhat unkept compared to the golf course.

Water

There is water but it is murky and questionable. There are ducks and other ground nesting birds living in it, as well as general floating debris so use your best judgement!

Poo Bins

There are two big dumpsters at the start of the golf course for poo bags.

Local Info

There is the Cowbridge House Inn pub along the route if you are walking in the evening and lots of different kinds of birds to spot if that is your thing.

Author Review

This is overall a really lovely daily walk with really friendly golfers.

Some insider tips and words of warning: there is one point where you must cross the road, walk on the other side of the drain and then recross the road a little while later to get back into the golf course I would recommend going on lead when you reach the corner of the vegetable field with the house on it. There are really handy earth mounds designed to protect walkers from flying golf balls which work to "funnel" dogs between the drain and the golfers and allow for some gentle off lead time.

As a word of warning, there are train tracks near one corner of the cauliflower field but there is a fence between the path and the tracks and you can skip around that bit if you don't fancy the longer walk. Also be warned that plenty of rabbits live in the hedges near the vegetable fields and I personally found the hedges a bit prickly when pulling my terriers out of rabbit holes.
