If you are staying at the detailed Shepherds hut at Booth Farm.
The route goes up and over Chrome Hill which is rocky at the top but manageable for 4 paws. Small sections of quiet road are also on this route. A few easy stiles to manoeuvre over and some grazing cattle in some fields.
No water here
No bins
The pub on this route is The Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn, unfortunately we didn’t stop off due to being quite muddy and as it was Christmas Day when we did the walk opening times were limited. The pub looked lovely though and we will definitely be returning to give experience it properly in the near future!
We stayed in the most adorable dog friendly shepherds hut at Booth Farm near Hollinsclough (booked via Air B&B), and this walk was a 13km circular direct from the hut. We headed out on this walk just before sunrise and it really did feel like something special. You can clearly see how Chrome Hill gets its commonly used names of Dragons Back. Spectacular place for a sunrise brew with a view, but the pictures really don’t do it justice to be honest. It’s absolutely stunning.
We skirted around the side of the second hill (Parkhouse) on this occasion due to it being winter and the daylight hours were limited. But we will be going to the top of that next time. Likewise on this route you could incorporate High Wheeldon Trig point too for all of those eager Trigbaggers . We’ll be heading back here in June so expect another shorter route incorporating the second hill too!
