Several different car parks in the center of the Cheddar. We paid £6.20 for all day parking and the walk took use a couple of hours but Cheddar is a gorgeous place and has many dog friendly shops and cafes and bars. The Christmas Shop is a must visit and is open all year round.
This is a gorge walk that takes you up one side of the gorge, down and up the otherside, so it is not flat and you encounter a mixture of terrains. We recommend you go around this route clockwise so that at the end you come down Jacobs Ladder rather than up (this way means you don't need to pay to use Jacobs Ladder).
None here
Poo Bins are available through the bottom of the Gorge but there are none on the top of the gorge walk.
Lots of dog friendly options we chose On The Rocks Bar that is dog friendly in the lovely front garden. On a previous walk years before we also had lunch in the garden at The White Hart as well, lovely sunny spot. Just five minutes drive away from Cheddar is also The Cider Barn, highly recommend this! Dog Friendly and super quirky!
I've done this walk on numerous occasions and I never get bored of it! The views are absolutely gorgeous and if your lucky you get to see goats at the top of the Gorge! (make sure dogs are kept on a lead). I even remember going there as a child with my parents, and I have since taken my children (the human and canine ones). It's very well signposted and if you don't want to go up the other side when you get down to the centre point of the Gorge you can walk back down along the road to cheddar without going up the other side of the Gorge. The route also covers some of the Mendip Ring and Samaritans Way Footpaths.
